Our Mission

The purpose of C.H.A.N.C.E. for a Change is to provide homeless men and women an opportunity to become successful citizens of the society through a transitional living program. Changing lives of Homeless And Nurturing others, while Creating Excellent opportunities.

 

Goals

  • Lead homeless individuals to a safe place and off the street

  • Assist our residents determine their career paths and goals

  • Grant opportunities to understand life skills and financial management

 

Objectives

  • By the end of their term (6-24 months), they will be employed or enrolled in school full time and living in their own homes (purchased or rented)

  • Decrease the number of homeless individuals on the streets of Douglasville, by increasing the number of working members of society 

  • Provide opportunities to serve their community and give back

What is CHANCE for a Change?

CHANCE for a Change is a program that provides temporary housing for men and women who are homeless for a 6- to 24- month period. Each resident will be required to obtain employment or enroll in an educational program, pay a monthly living fee, attend success series courses, and meet with an adviser once a week. They will also be required to participate in monthly community service events and activities. 

 

Am I eligible?

To be eligible, all applicants must:

  • Must be US Citizens 

  • Must be leagally considered to homeless

    • Homeless- an individual who lacks permanent night time residence 

    • Must provide proof

  • Must be able to move around independently; may use assistive device

  • Must want to make a change and regain independence

  • Men, Women, Veterans, Aged out Foster (18-24), Seniors, Mental Health diagnosis and compliment with medication or Financially challenged
